About the Author
ANTOINE DE SAINT-EXUPÉRY, the "Winged Poet," was born in Lyon, France, in 1900. A pilot at twenty-six, he was a pioneer of commercial aviation and flew in the Spanish Civil War and World War II. His writings include The Little Prince, Wind, Sand and Stars, Night Flight, Southern Mail, and Airman's Odyssey. In 1944, while flying a reconnaissance mission for his French air squadron, he disappeared over the Mediterranean.

Ethereal prose poet

I, like many, was first introduced to St. Exupery by "The Little Prince"; however, I went on to explore his other books (Wind, Sand and Stars) and fell in love with his poetic style of writing, his passion for flight, and his vivid descriptions of the Sahara. His life ended all too soon, insisting on flying in the War, even when he was turned down several times for his age. He died flying at the age of 44. His writing lives on, and if you read just the first page, you will know that this is one of the most talented and excellent writers you will ever read.

After reading the Airman's Odyssey trilogy I fell in love with St-Ex

I could not finish this book after getting 3/4 through. After reading the Airman's Odyssey trilogy I fell in love with St-Ex. This story though really is nothing like St-Ex and I don't recommend it. It just has none of the existentialism, social commentary, epic imagery, or thought-provoking insight that I expect from St-Ex. On top of it the story just wanders and never really starts, or ever gets anywhere...seriously I really can't tell you what this story is about.

More soaring and gliding from aviation's greatest penseur. Why we are all here, how our world looks from the sky and how things change as we mature are all examined in the lovely loquacious style that is St.Ex. Another classic.
